This is a truly fascinating embroidery work well known as ‘Phulkari’ that comes from the land of Punjab, India. Phulkari means floral and thus, fabric work is done in such a way that simple floral designs and geometrical patterns are made using multicolored silken threads. The main characteristic of this embroidery is that alluring motifs are created on the back side of the base material using darn stitches. The colorful intriguing patterns of Phulkari undoubtedly appear eye-catching and indescribable.
As you can see, the craftsman has not used any complicated designs to decorate this cotton bedspread, yet it looks really mesmerizing. Prominently three or four colored silk threads have been used to create a seemingly big patch in the center that appears on the top when it is spread on the bed. If you closely notice, flowers inside numerous small squares together make this big square. The four corners have been embroidered in the same design as one small square in the center. This absolutely alluring bedspread is available with two pillow covers of same color as its base color and comes in a variety of amazing color options such as the lavish Cadmium Green, the soothing Rugby Tan, the attractive Sachet Pink, and the enchanting Sugar Coral.
