About the CD

The Shree Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai has been a unique centre of attraction for devotees. Liberating us from sorrow and fulfilling our desires, Shree Siddhivinayak has been showering auspicious blessings for the past two centuries.

The seated glowing idol of Shree Siddhivinayak with Tridhi Siddhi has his trunk on the right side, a sign of great purity and power or 'jagrata'. It implies a call for pious abidance to duty and clean living. In His right hand He holds the goad, protecting the faithful & dutiful and reining in the wayward devotees. A lotus in the left hand symbolises auspicious piety. The second right hand holds a rosary of beads (Japmala). He also has a 'modak', a sweet delicacy in his hands.

Shree Siddhivinayak himself follows Bhramhatva. His snake shaped sacred thread with Bramha Tej bestows knowledge & wisdom to all. Lord Shiva has provided his dutiful son Shree Siddhivinayak with his fiery eye to destroy evil (thoughts) from within the wicked. This is a unique feature of this particular vigilant deity. It cannot be seen in any other Ganesh idol.

Both Naradhpurana & Ganeshpurana describe Bramahsatvarupa Ganesh as the controller of the universe. Shree Siddhinvinayak is the source of all arts, knowledge and intelligence. Prayers are offered to Shree Ganesh before any other worship or before any auspicious work. Prayers to Shree Siddhivinayak from Kakad Arti in the morning to Shayanarti in the nights evoke Ashtasatvikh Bhav in the devotees.

The prayers are performed usually with the following six articles of worship.

Sandalwood: invokes the feeling of serving others by taking efforts.
Flowers: bring forth the being of self being happy and also making others happy.
Akshatas: symbolises a pure mind.
Incense sticks: teaches us to exchange generous, dignified & noble thoughts.
Haldikumkurn: symbolises our perpetual good luck.
Light (Arti diyas): teaches us to offer our Panchapran (five vital signs) at the feet of the Lord.
Camphor: teaches us to give up ego while worshipping the Lord.
Prayers offered with utter devotion bear sweet fruits symbolised by the ball of Modak that Shree Siddhivinayak bears in his hands.
