About The Artist

The album has been sung by renowned artiste-Jagjit Singh, who has taken the spiritual music of India to a new height after his album “Hey Ram”. Jagjit Singh a legendary name in the field of Ghazal and Devotional singing in indisputably one of the most talented artiste of India. This name has been ringing in the ears of millions of music lovers for many years. For four decades now he has been conjuring up magic with his music and enthralling audience the world over.

Jagjit was born on 8th February 1941 to simple parents in Sriganganagar, Rajasthan. Actually named Jagmohan at birth, his devout Sikh father rechristened him Jagjit on the advice of his Namdhari guru. Jagjit’s early years were spent in Bikaner, where hs a father was posted as a public works department employee. Jagjit’s father got him to train under a blind teacher, Pandit Chhaganlal Sharma, and later, under Ustad Jamal Khan of the Senia gharaana (a school of traditional Hindustani Music). Jagjit Singh’s proficiency spread beyond Ghazals and He established himself in the arena of film music as well as devotional singing.

The multifaceted genius also lent his mellow tones to Bhajan and came out with sever devotional albums namely Hey Govind Hey Gopal, Maa, Sanwara, Hey Ram, Shiva and other. Like Ghazals, Jagjit Singh sings Bhajans like human breathes. It come so naturally to him that one could not be thought of, without the other. His voice is so mystical, full of infinite possibilities. He continues to enthrall hi audiences the world ever with fresh albums and lending his inimitable vocals to film soundtracks.
