The Lord of Auspiciousness
‘Ga’ symbolized Buddhi (intellect) and ‘Na’ symbolizes Vijnana (wisdom). Ganesh is thus considered the master of intellect and wisdom. He is also the patron of accomplishment and the container of all possibilities. He is the one who destroys all obstacles, challenges the intruder and keeps the unworthy out. He is the granter of boons and the destroyer of vanity, selfishness and pride. He is the personification of material universe in all its various magnificent manifestations.

On the whole, the adorable Lord Ganesh is the most frequently invoked divinity, since he is the Lord of fortuity who provides prosperity and fame and also destroys obstacles of both material and spiritual order. It is for this reason that He is invoked before the undertaking of any task with pious incantations of his name. He is the first god to be worshipped at every occasion, every project, every sojourn and everything of any importance. Throughout India, his idol is the first to be placed in any new home or abode.

The friendliest of gods to ever grace our dwellings, Lord Ganesh represents the perfect equilibrium between force and kindness and power and beauty. He also symbolizes the discriminative capacities that provide the power to perceive distinctions between truth and illusion, the real and the unreal. He absorbs all the negative vibes thus clearing the environs the negative energy. In fact, he is fabled to have a potbelly because he has consumed the accumulated sins of his countless devotees. Moreover, He is associated with the first chakra (energy wheel), that represents the instinct of conservation and survival, of procreation and material well being. Not surprising then that this adorable elephant headed god – Ganesh, finds his abode in the hearts of millions of devotees and continues to permeate their lives in most formidable ways.
