About The Artist

Hazrat Sultan Bahu (RA) Sultan Bahu (ca 1628-1691) was a Muslim Sufi and saint, who founded the Sarwari Qadiri sufi order. Sultan Bahu belonged to Awan tribe. Awans are the descendants of Ali. Like many other sufi sants of the Indian subcontinent, Sultan Bahu was also a prolific writer, with more than forty books on Sufism attributed to him. However, as the majority of his books deals with specialized subjects related to Islam and Islamic mysticism, it is his Punjabi poetry that has generated popular appeal and made him a household name in the region. His poetic verses are Sang in many genres of sufi music including qawaalis and kaafis.

Mohd. Iqbal Bahu Muhammad Iqbal Bahu, is a Pakistan sufi Singer. He was born in Gurdaspur, Punjab India, but migrated to Pakistan after Independence, and settled in Lahore. Iqbal Bahu mastered the Sufi tradition of the well-known Sufi saint Sultan Bahu. He sung many Sufi songs for Radio Pakistan and Pakistan belevision and was awarded the bamgha-i-Imtiaz honor by the Government of Pakistan in 2008.
