Police kills Shakti Velu’s father because he asks for better salary for poor workers. Shakti takes revenge by killing the Inspector and runs away. Another boy Shankar Waghmare (Feroz Khan) helps and befriend him. Both go to Bombay and stay with Karim (Aloknath) along with his daughter Shama. They grow & start helping Karim in his smuggling work, and have growing power. Dora Swami doesn’t like this step and gets Karim killed in the hands of an alchoholic, womanizer Inspector Ratan Singh(Amrish Puri). Shakti in turn kills Ratan in front of the public. Tara(Aruna Irani) hides him from police and thus he becomes the local don Dayavan (Vinod Khanna) with most important henchman as Shankar(Feroz Khan). Shakti marries a prostitute Neela (Maduri Dixit) and has two kids Surya and Sarita now. Meanwhile he has also extended his activities by shaking hand with Heneef lal, Choksi Bhai, Kohli Bhai etc. Anna and his henchman do not like to see Dayavan being so powerful. They kill his sister Shama (Anuradha Patel) and wife while targeting him. Though Shakti loses his own family members but he and shankar eliminate the killers too. Kids grow up and Dayavan become old. Sarita(Amla) doesn’t approve of father’s criminal acts but Dayavan argues, saying he is just helping poor and needy people. Shankar goes underground for his deeds and in his absence Surya takes up the action. But being inexperienced he loses his life. So Sarita too leaves Dayavan. Years later, Dayavan Years later, Dayavan finds Sarita married to ACP(Aditya Pacholi) having a kid. On her request he surrenders but due to enormous public support, he gets released soon. And while celebrating Ratan’s son Ajeet fires 3 bullets on him and kills him.
