About the DVD

Symphony of Love, Peace & Harmony by Chitra Roy
1094 Sitarists from World Over
Brahm Naad Performance Enters Guinness Records

Brahm Naad
Conceptualised by His Holiness Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Brahm Naad resonates with the two fold purpose, to popularise Indian Classical music and to spread the message of peace and harmony, through the unified power of music.

Based on the ancient ragas from the Gandharva Veda, namely Raga Gara, Bageshwari and Hansadhwani to conceptualise the all encompassing love for the divine through the fascination and pull of love, the anguish of longing and the final culmination through divine union.

As a testimony to India’s multi ethnic heritage and cultural vitality, 1094 sitarists from the age of 7 to 70, from different countries, different religious backgrounds, castes and sections of society came together in this celebration of unity and harmony.

1094 sitar exponents from almost all states across India, including Maharashtra, Karnataka, Haryana, Gujarat, Madhya Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh. Assam, Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Bengal, Jammu And Kashmir, Delhi & NCR, among others, were part of this historic ensemble. Sitarists also included students from various schools and universities namely Shantiniketan, Gandhrva Maha Vidyalaya (across India), Bhatkhanda Music School, Vishwabharti University, Delhi University, Banaras Hindu University, Gorakhpur University and Sangeet Kala Academy. The ensemble also had sitarists from Australia, USA, France and Abu Dhabi.
