The devotees of Krishna-Ganesha cult represent Bala Ganesha in the familiar form of the child Krishna crawling with one hand raised containing a modak and the other poised on the ground, but this Balagopala is elephant faced. Postured in this manner, on checkered tiles, he sits relishing a modak from a bowlful lying in the forefront. The mouse, his mount, also partakes of the modak. Instead of a karanda-mukuta, he has a peacock feather tucked in strings of pearls, holding his hair. On one side of his head hangs a crescent moon as it does on the head of his father - the Great Lord Shiva. On his forehead are three horizontal lines adorned by Shaivites and known as Tripundra.
The ears are flappy; the belly protruding. The position of the limbs lend movement to the picture.
The background contains large spacious houses with dense foliage against a bright-blue sky. There is also a temple in the distance. The whole picture presents a bright colorful composition.
