The year 2022 marks the centenary of the Memorial of "Mahakavi Bharathiyar and the 75th Independence Day of India. The Honourable Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu M.K. Stalin ordered to celebrate both the events in a highly esteemed manner. Accordingly, the books of Mahakavi Bharathiyar and the historical books about him are translated into English and brought to the world. It contains biographical works on Bharathiyar, essays and poems.
There are very few books and works that fully comprehend the biography of Bharathiyar. Due to this there are difficulties in knowing his clear life picture. Va. Ramaswamy (Va. Ra), a Scholar acquainted with Bharathiyar written a biography named Mahakavi Bharathiyar. A biography written by Bharathiar's wife Chellammal entitled Bharathi Saritham. Ra. Kanagalingam of Pondichery, the man who adorned the poonul by Bharathiyar wrote a biography named Enathu Guru Nadar. Bharathi Ninaivukal by YadugiriAmmal are the basic books available today to help us understand the life of Bharathi.
Later due to the hard work of many Bharthi scholars various new data on his life were obtained. A number of texts have been published which have studied Bhartiyar's songs. However in the early days Professor S. Vaiyapurippillai's article on Bharathi, entitled Thesiya Kavi Subramania Bharathi is the highly valued and remarkable one. Some of the above texts and articles have already been translated into English. Mahakavi Bharathiar by Va. Ra. and Enathu Gurunadar By Ra. Kanalingam are included in that list.
In this book, Bharathi Charithram written by Chellammal Bharathi and Bharathi Ninaivukal written by YadugiriAmmal and the long essay Thesiya Kavi Subramania Bharathi by Prof. S. Vaiyapurippillai are translated.
