This is a feminist book. It takes on patriarchy, its Myth-O-logy, its continuum, its ramifications, its spread,... by its horns. It debunks the male privilege, hypocrisy, and its lethal reach. It's not seeking any mercy, but rather demands its annihilation. It emerges from the RIGHTS perspective, and creates a Simone de Beauvoir template to unmask fabrications, prejudices, stereotypes, and stigmatisations.

This book argues that feminism has been part of our heritage and not something alien to our culture. It comes up with a pledge that all men and patriarchs (including men and women) need to take. This book delves deep into some disturbing questions from the construction of gender, stereotypes and patriarchy, to discrimination, to oppression of women (understanding woman vs. woman reality - a patriarchal outlook), to being with the homeless women, to the journey of the foetus, to the murder of womb, to rape, to private hospitals murdering women, than curing, to private mental health institutions locking sane women to be at the beck and call of patriarchy, to norms entrenching women's rights, to equality,...

This book is for all enquiring minds. It does answer many questions, as it raises many still. We all need to be better human beings, fuller human beings, a feminist than a patriarch. This book is a small attempt in that direction.

It is plea for all men to transform themselves and to the women to explore their potentials to the fullest. We need to create a society that persecutes none. Glorifies None. Horrifies None.

A society which relates to all equally, with dignity and justice, is the dream of this book and all its authors, young and old!

Indu Prakash Singh (Born July 20, 1959), an eminent activist, a human rights defender, sociolo- gist, socio-spiritual activist, poet, author, a feminist, a TED* Speaker and a PRA/ PLA practitioner / facilitator, is currently a Consultant with a large number of development organisations. He has spoken at the United Nations (New York) in 2020. Indu has recently been appointed by the GNCTD (Government of the National Capital Territory) as the CHAIR- PERSON of the Asha Kiran Complex (Home for the Intellec- tually Challenged Persons Indu, in 2018 has been made a MEMBER of the Monitoring Committee (SLSMC - State Level Shelter Monitoring Committee) for Progress of Shelter for Urban Homeless in Delhi (appointed by GNCTD, on the Orders of the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, under WP(C) 55 and 572 of 2003 (also Petitioner along with others)). Indu has been a Kalinga Fellow (kalingafellowship.org) 2020-21, to work against human trafficking, in the First Responders Team. India has had over 40 years of work in the development sector, being part of the women's movement (since 80s) and the rights of the CityMakers (home- less residents, since 1999). He has been an Alumnus of JNU, Jamia and University of Delhi. And teaches at NIFT (Delhi), and taught in DU, Jamia, and IGNOU. He has double Masters, in Philosophy and Sociology, M.Phil. and a Doctorate too. Having won a Gold Medal for topping in MA Sociology, besides topping in M. Phil too, he has won numerous national and international AWARDS. Indu is an author of 'Women's Oppression, Men Responsible' (1988); "Women, Law and Social Change in India' (1989: London & New Delhi; 2016: reprinted); 'Indian Women: The Captured Beings' (1990); 'Indian Women: The Power Trapped' (1991), 'CityMakers: Tribulations & Triumphs A Saga of Heroic Struggle of the Homeless Residents of India' (2016, 2017, 2021 - Ebook Edition). He is the co- author of 'Delhi: A Tale of Two Cities' (1993) and four other publications. He has written numerous articles in journals, magazines, newspapers etc. He also has edited over 50 publications.

This book emerges in the present context out of my teaching and recent writings of mine and my students, interns, family and friends. The names of the contributors are mentioned, alongside the articles. Where there are my writings, no name is mentioned. In the 80s when we were students, we were on the streets clamouring for more effective laws. Today we see slack implementation. The Challenges remain, so also our resolve to decimate patriarchy. The title of this book reverberates throughout every passage of the book. There's not even one flippant remark made by anyone. All that is shared here is seeded in the soil of lived experiences of everyone. This book offers few ideas for men to take responsibility for the rot that has set in. And empowers women and transgenders, to assert their rights.
