This volume includes the papers presented on the occasion of the National Conference on "Health Economics-Issues and Challenges in India" organized by the Department of Economics, Sri Parasakthi College for Women, Courtallam and held in the year 2011. Scholars from different parts of the country took part in the academic deliberations and presented papers on various aspects of Health Economics. It was aimed at the interaction of the scholars on various issues and the researches conducted in the field of Health Economics and its inter-related disciplines. Some of the titles are highlighted here are Enhanced the investment and inclusions for empowering, Health of India, Environment and human Health, Health insurance policy in India, Medical tourism, Health nutrition and Health care, Women and health and so on.

Dr. (Smt.) Kayarkanni Born on 1st June, 1960, Smt.S. Kayarkanni did her post graduation in Economics and Mathematical Economics from Madurai Kamaraj University and Doctorate degree from the same University. She took her M.B.A., from Alagappa University. She served in the teaching faculty of Mother Teresa Women's University and Lady Dock College. She is guiding the M.Phil, and Ph.D., students of Economics. She has contributed more than sixty research papers to various journals related to Agriculture research, Marketing, Epigraphy, Onomastics etc. Her research papers have figured in the leading journals like Agricultural situation in India, Mano Research Forum, Industrial Resurgence in Rural India, Scope and Strategies, Revamping Financial Sector, Studies in Indian Epigraphy, studies in Indian Place Names, Journal of Ancient Sciences and Archaeology and so on. She has authored the books entitled Economic Analysis of Fertilizer use for major crops, Monetary Economics; Agroeconomy, Environment and Rights, etc.

Also she brought out Publications such as Monetary Economic Policy, Environmental Economics, and Industrial Economics. She has also delivered Sri Kaila sanathan Endowment lecture on the occasion of 8 annual conference on Ancient Sciences and Archaeology held at Kalyan in 2015. She has also presented a number of research papers in various conferences.

She has made an inroad into several national, regional conferences, seminars and workshops through her rich and significant contribution on the latest researches on various aspects of economics, environment, agricultural growth, epigraphy, etc. She is presently the Associate Professor in Economics and Head of the Department in Sri Parasakthi College for Women-Courtallam.

This volume entitled "Health Economics-Issues and Challenges in India" is a collection of papers presented in the National Conference on Health Economics, held in the year 2011, organized by Department of Economics, Sri Parasakthi College for Women, Courtallam. These papers have been presented by scholars from different parts of the country. There are altogether 64 papers pertaining to various aspects of Health care, Health insurance, Health care schemes, Health problems of Women and Health economics. In organizing this conference, immense help and guidance was received from the then principal of the college Dr. C. Rajeswari, for which we place on record our sincere thanks to her. We are indebted to Dr. A. Ranga Reddy, Professor of Economics, Sri Venkateswara University, Tirupathi, who delivered a thought provoking Key Note address. Another distinguished scholar Dr. I. Sundar, professor of Health Economics, Annamalai University, Annamalai nagar, who delivered the Valedictory address richly deserves our thanks. We are also thankful to Dr. Capt. Andrews, Dr. Mrs. Prabhavathy, the Canara Bank, Courtallam, and several others for the support received in deliberating this conference. Our sincere thanks are due to Sri C.P. Gautam, Bharatiya Kala Prakashan and to the type setters for bringing out this volume in a systematic way.
