In this unique series of 103 discourses, Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj has revealed the innermost secrets of the Vedas, Shastras and Puranas; opening up India's timeless Vedic culture for the whole world to see, and understand. In a very simple and logical manner, Shri Maharaj Ji has brought unlimited glory upon our Vedic heritage, presenting in a modern-day context, the rich traditions of India's ancient Rishis, Munis and great Vedic scholars.
In our Sanatan Dharm, the eternal religion commonly known as Hinduism, there are various differences of opinion. Scriptures such as the Vedas, Shastras, Puranas and many others seem to contradict each other to such a degree, that it has been beyond anyone to reconcile them. Recognising the need of the day, this extraordinary feat was executed in the most masterful way by Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj in this series of 103 discourses entitled Main Kaun? Mera Kaun? (Who am I? Who is Mine?) Delivered between 20 October 2009 and 14 October 2011.
His literary oeuvre and captivating discourses are testimony to Shri Maharaj Ji's correlation of profound philosophies, namely advaitavada, vishishtadvaitavada, dvaitadvaitavada, dvaitavada, vishuddhadvaitavada and achintyabhedabheda vada, making them understandable to people from all walks of life. Quoting extensively from hundreds of scriptures and the writings of the Rasika Saints, Shri Maharaj Ji describes the applicability and distinctiveness of bhaktiyoga. His explanations of profound subjects are lucid and eloquent, augmented with simple analogies from daily life. By doing so, he has reinstated Vedic philosophy as the repository of spiritual wisdom for the entire world.
As India's fifth original Jagadguru in a tradition dating back more than 2500 years, and honoured with the title of jagadguruttam - "Supreme Among all Jagadgurus" - Shri Maharaj Ji has strengthened peoples connection to, and faith in, the divine knowledge of our scriptures. He has, in short, rejuvenated the great tradition of India's rishis and munis. In this age of materialism where doubt and confusion is widespread, Shri Maharaj Ji has shown and proven the indispensability of God in our life, and bhaktiyoga as the only true path to His attainment, available to every human being regardless of culture, caste or creed.
The content of this publication is the English translation of the first ten discourses. Shri Maharaj Ji has explained the essence of the meaning of all the scriptural verses he quotes within the text itself. The meanings of other verses are given in the appendix section at the back of the book. This series is being translated into English maintaining the integrity of the original Hindi transcripts. We hope readers will forgive us for any errors we have made.
In answering these two questions - Who am I? Who is mine? - Jagadguru Shri Kripalu Ji Maharaj has outlined the blueprint for the attainment of true everlasting happiness. He has answered all fundamental questions related to the soul, God and the world. Today, these discourses are benefiting people across the world, who are viewing them online or watching them on various television channels. This book contains the first ten discourses in English. Readers will be able to study them as never before and reap the benefits from doing so.
Devout seekers have requested me for a long time to give a series of spiritual discourses that contain the essence of all my philosophical doctrines, so that the entire world can receive the treasure of this divine knowledge for their future betterment.
My life is dedicated to serve you people. Although thousands of my discourses are already available through electronic media, as I have been addressing you for the last sixty-five years, yet I am presenting this series of discourses in print for the sake of your happiness.
I have received phone calls from my listeners who are amazed at the frequency with which I quote chapter and verse from our scriptures, and they want to know when I read all this. Let me say in response that I do not have a single copy of our Vedas or Shastras. I take my ability to do this as the boundless grace of our causelessly compassionate Shri Krishna and nothing else. You can draw your own conclusions.
To me there is only one motive behind everything that I do, and that is the welfare of all people of this world. Therefore, if anyone is able to derive spiritual benefit from any of my discourses, I would consider my life justified.
