The novel is about the hero's search for truth which had obsessed him since his boyhood. The hero's obsession is like Bodhisatva's mission of life; he traversed the universe on the back of a white horse in order to find truth. The hero's life long search proves to be as fruitless as Bodhisatva's labour; the only difference is that his varied experience develops in him a vision which helps him overcome his disappointment and make life more tolerable. 'The White Horse' is an extremely readable novel which holds the reader's attention till the last word. The men and women he comes across are the same as he meets in daily life, but they are far more striking and unforgettable. It is an epic which presents the picture of a nation at a memorable period of its existence.
