Competitive exams judge your vocabulary knowledge. This is an important factor where the examiners judge your possible ways to stand out from the crowd.
English language in competitive exams comprises three important sections: vocabulary, grammar and comprehension. These sections equip the examiners to judge how much English you understand and write.
Grammar can be improved only through practice. Practicing grammar is the best way to improve it.
Your vocabulary should be good in order to score better in comprehension. Comprehension is one section where you can score full marks if you can understand the passage given.
Lack of good vocabulary also hampers the speed of reading and comprehending. This also reflects while reading a novel, report or anything else. Here lies the importance of vocabulary. If you have a strong base in vocabulary, it becomes easier for you to understand the difficult words, sentences and paragraphs, hence you can complete your task quickly and correctly.
I'm feeling honored at the moment to write the foreword of the book and preferred to write so since I have been associated with this project from the very initial insights of it. Having witnessed the various evolving stages of the book and the introduction of Mnemotricks, an interesting term coined by the author itself in his attempt to make ease with words using mnemonics, to make words more retainable, one thing I'm pretty sure about is that it's surely the first of its kind and definitely the one which has attempted to make learning of new words Mad easy and hence the name of the book.
To explain the usage of a word, the author has majorly inculcated examples and phrases from Indian context which enhances the ease to insert the meaning of a word at one go. The sentences are highly comprehended and are provided with tricks to recollect them in least possible time. Provided with Hindi meaning, other synonyms and Mnemotricks, it enables to learn by heart the words we've never heard before.
Though there would always be a difference in classroom method and self- study, the author tried to minimize the gap between these by making the book quite interactive. Travelling through the island of various words has been made not just easy, but pretty interesting with the creative approach.
