The books written by me so far have covered diverse subjects on the Lord, Veda, Vedantha, Agamas, Prasthaana Thraya, 4000 Divya Prabhandham, Srivaishnavism and so on but none on Lord's lieutenants viz. Nithyasooris (eternals). This is the first book. appropriately on Garuda, the king of birds. Very few books have got written on such subjects - I must state here with 'saathvic pride' that our paramaachaarya, Sri Vedantha Desikar, perhaps is the first to have chosen to write on Garuda.
He has two compositions to his credit, both being sthothras. One of them is short but the other one runs into 52 verses! The circumstances leading to the composition of the first one makes for an interesting reading and reveals Swami Desikan's unique spiritual power.
Besides these two unique compositions exclusively Garudan Swami has also composed eleven slokas on him in his monumental mahaakaavya Yaadhavaabhyudháya' besides many references to him running right through the kaavya. They are profusely rich in poetic imagery. They are included in this book.
Moolam (text) for all the verses / slokas are presented in four languages viz. Sanskrit, Kannada, Tamil and Eliglish, the meanings! explanations are in English.
I feel happy and satisfied to have attempted this subject and particularly so as it benefits those who rely on English language only Talking about benefits, these sthothras are said to bring immense positive effects to those reciting them.
