About the Book

In the late nineteenth and early twentieth centuries, Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Thākura emerged as the most prominent emissary and guardian of the supramundane mission and teachings of Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu. The indebted Gaudīya Vaisnava community honoured him as the seventh Gosvāmī, thus recognizing his contribution to be on par with that of the exalted six Gosvāmīs of Vịndāvana. For the benefit of the souls in this material world, he authored and wrote commentaries on more than one hundred books on the science of devotional service.

In the first part of this book, he summarizes, in question and answer format, the nine absolute truths, as presented by the original Supreme Person, Śrī Caitanya Mahaprabhu. And in the second part, he presents a deliberation on the subject of the pure holy name, a semblance of the holy name, and the offensive stage of chanting. His analysis is invaluable to anyone journeying the path of bhakti.

About the Author

Sri Śrīmad Bhaktivedānta Nārāyana Gosvāmī Mahārāja took his divine birth in Tivārīpura, Bihar, India, in 1921. He met his gurudeva, Śrī Śrimad Bhakti Prajñāna Keśava Gosvāmī Mahārāja, in 1946, and dedicated his life to serving him. His gurudeva instructed him to translate the writings of prominent Vaisnavas into Hindi. Taking this command to heart, he worked continuously throughout his life and published more that fifty sacred texts.

He circled the globe more than thirty times, solely to expound pure bhakti, the sole means to realize our spiritual nature. On 29 December 2010 in Śrī Purī-dhāma, he concluded his pastimes in this world.

Introduction

Vaişņava-siddhānta-mālā was originally composed in the Bengali language by oṁ visņupāda Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Thākura, the incarnation of auspiciousness in this world. Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Țhākura is to be included as an intimate member among the eternal associates of Sacīnandana Śrī Gaurahari, who is the purifier of the age of Kali and the source of all His manifestations. Now that this essay has become available in the Hindi language to faithful readers, we are experiencing the most profound joy to have served the heart-felt desire of our most worshipful spiritual master, the lion-like ācārya and jagad-guru, os vişnupāda astottaraśata-śrī Śrīmad Bhakti Prajñāna Keśava Gosvāmī Mahārāja.

After the disappearance of Gaudīya Vaişņava ācāryas such as the six Gosvāmīs, Śrī Krşņa dāsa Kavirāja, Śrī Viśvanātha Cakravarti Thākura and Śrī Baladeva Vidyābhūṣaṇa, the pure Vaisnava dharma and its true teachings, as practised and preached by Śrī Caitanya Mahāprabhu, became almost entirely lost. The most dear associate of Śrī Gaurasundara, Śrīla Bhaktivinoda Thākura, appeared within this material world and composed a great number of books in Sanskrit, Bengali, Hindi, Oriya and English languages. For this, he became famous as the seventh Gosvāmī in the annals of the Śrī Gaudīya Vaişnava tradition.
