Tulsidas is rightly considered as one of the most influential poet-saints and philosophers that India has ever produced. His Ramacharitmanas, which retells the story of Lord Rama in a disarmingly simple language, has proved to be a touchstone of perfect art so much so that the devoted readers over the centuries have been inclined to identify the writer with the very text of the great epic.
