Chitra Garg has been in the field of writing since 1974 She has been writing articles and stories for all national news- papers and magazines in both Hindi and English. 貝 More than 600 hundred of her articles and stories on a number of varied subject have been published since then. Her subjects include children literature, biographies of women achievers, martial arts, science, travel. carrier, handicrafts, child- psychology, women's relations etc. She is the writer of 57 books published by much reputed publishers of India.

She has been awarded Bal Sahitya Samman' and 'Bhartendu Harish Chandra Puraskar' She was the editor of children magazine 'Bal Manch' published by Nehru Bal Samiti. She has also produced and directed many programmes for Doordarshan.

She has traveled very widely (more than 20 countries) across the globe including different countries like USA, Canada, England, Germany. France, Singapore, Dubai, Australia and Newzealand etc. apart from India. Her hobbies vary from writing to reading, photography, painting, cooking and gardening.

Chitra Garg was born on 8th October, 1954 in a small town of U P-Faridpur in district Bareilly. Her passion for traveling and excursion has inspired her to write this book.

Since childhood it was my dream to travel the whole world and see the natural beauty of the earth with my own eyes. But in my pre-marriage life I could enjoy only a few cities of India which were near my native place, Faridpur [district Bareilly]. After marriage my dream came true when I travelled the whole India with my husband, Dinesh Garg and later on with my kids, especially the main tourist places of India.

I have travelled more than twenty countries of the world. My writing passion has helped me in writing my memories on paper and I wrote a lot on travel and tourism for different newspapers and magazines.

Therefore it was a great pleasure for me to write a book about India. To collect update and authentic information was quite laborious and difficult task. I have tried my best to give the correct information about every nook and corner of Indian tourist places. All of us are aware that many telephone numbers are changing rapidly, yet I have tried to collect the latest telephone numbers of every office. But it is advisable to readers to check the numbers.

Indian government is taking great interest in developing and providing tourist facilities. New hotels are coming into existence. Exclusive tourist places are being developed, for example, Azad Gram and Dilli Haat of Delhi are recent developments.
