In fact, proverbs and sayings are generally considered to be synonymous, but it is not so. Proverbs are based on experiences of life. These are not only passed on from generation to generation, but their quality and proven ness keep on improving with time, or rather new facts keep on adding to them. Based on the laws of nature beyond time and space, they have a specific and particular referential meaning and are complete in themselves, whereas proverbs are used in the middle of sentences or in a context. Other characteristics of proverbs are their easy to remember tongue twister, sarcasm, social beliefs, values and some factual data’s.
