The three works constituting the present volume were written by Silo, in Mendoza (Argentina).
The Inner Look was completed by the end of autumn, 1972. It was revised in August of 1988. In turn, The Internal Landscape was completed in the winter of 1981 and it also underwent modifications in August, 1988. Finally, The Human Landscape was written completely by October of the same year.
Sixteen years passed between the first printing of The Inner Look and its revision. Inthis period, the book circulated in numerous languages of the East and the West, motivating the writer's personal contact and correspondence with readers of different latitudes. Certainly, this fact contributed to the decision to modify various chapters of the writing, since it was noticed that the different cultural backgrounds which the work arrived at produced countless differences in the interpretation of the texts. Moreover, there were words that presented serious difficulties at the time of translating them, and that rather misinterpreted the original meaning with which they were used.
The above mentioned is also valid for The Internal Landscape, although in this case seven years passed between the original production and its modification.
Carrying out this revision of the first two books in order to join them to the third one was, possibly, a part of the author's plan. It should be noticed that August, 1988, is when the corrections were made, and two months later the third book was completed. And it so happens that The Human Landscape, while maintaining the fundamental traits of style of the two previous productions, differs from them in stressing particular aspects of the cultural and social world forcing a turn in the way themes are treated that inevitably draws along all the components of this literary body which we later come to know as To Humanize the Earth.
