Tiruppavai is considered to be one of the most sacred texts in Dravida Vedam, popularly known as Nalayira Divya Prabandham. Tiruppavai Pravachanam happens invariably every year during the Margashira Month in all the Sri Vaishnavite Temples across the Globe. More than men, women throng these places in large numbers, as Thiruppavai is authored and handed down to humanity by the only female Alwar, Sri Andal, a manifestation of Bhoodevi who eventually unified with Lord Sri Ranganatha after performing Thiruppavai Vratham for 30 days in Margashira, in Srivilliputtur. It may not be an exaggeration to say that there is no Vaishnavite home without the Thiruppavai Text printed in the Script known to the inmates.
The present book authored by Prof. S. Jayaprakash, a renouned Telugu Scholar, contains not only the 30 Thiruppavai Pasurams, but it also gives curtain raiser for each Pasuram, its word by word meaning, the sum and substance of the pasuram besides Vilakshanartha and Vedanthartha in TELUGU. The author quotes extensively from other sacred Sanskrit texts like Srimad Bhagavatham, Srimad Ramayanam, Srimad Bhagavathgeeta etc. I am sure that this will become a very useful reference book for allthose who are interested in not only reciting Thiruppavai but also knowing its meaning and message. This book can also be used for Thiruppavai Parayanam during Margashira month.
I congratulate the Author and the publishing wing of Sri Venkateswara Vedic University for bringing out this excellent book to serve the devotees desiring preyas and/ or shreyas.
