Kabir says a lot, and how! His no-nonsense style of rendition pierces the heart. He says the truth as it really is, unpalatable as it may be. One of the greatest mystics, one of the greatest poets to have walked on this earth, Kabir has left such an indelible mark on mankind that even to this day, thousands and thousands of followers all over the world are trying to follow his teachings.
Thus there is no dearth of literature on Kabir. But one thing is for sure - Kabir's language is by no means easy to decipher, let alone understand. Cryptic style abounding with complex metaphors, many get caught up with his words, missing their Essence completely. Through 'Thus Says Kabir', Sadgurudev Anandmurti Gurumaa, an enlightened master, has simplified Kabir Sahib for the masses.
She has made him more accessible to us common folk so that we too can enjoy the fragrance of his words, understand this great master's revelations and peep into the sublimely beautiful world he lived in.
Beloved Gurumaa holds our hand as she takes us through the labyrinthine lanes of Kabir's abode, unravelling his words and revealing their sheer beauty and lofty wisdom. A must read for every Kabir admirer!.
Kabir Sahib, the most illustrious Avadhoo, the most crypt Bohemian master of all times made such an enduring impact that even today his work continues to galvanise and kindle the fire of quest in the hearts of spiritual aspirants. It will indeed be hard to come across someone who has never heard of this iconic and iconoclastic mystic. And this is despite hailing from the fifteenth or sixteenth century. His penetrating bhajans (hymns), pithy dohas (couplets) have more than stood the test of time, remaining as popular and inspiring as ever. And as hard to understand as ever! Thus the media abounds with scores of purported interpretations which are far, far away from the intended meaning.
Many a great poet, writer, composer have graced this earth. But arguably, Kabir with his non-euphemistic, paradoxical and most recherché style of rendition remains simply unparalled. Never mincing his words, his intuitive ingenuity can be seen in the choice of words and phrases in his compositions. His poetry abounds in complex metaphors, analogies and apparently converse statements. He conveyed his hard-hitting teachings through liberal usage of metaphors, albeit intricate, based upon incidents from day to day life.
It is by no means easy to decipher or grasp the essence held in the subtext, especially in a language that is earthy, rustic vernacular. Indeed, such is the impenetrable gist of his poetry that it is simply inscrutable for average folk. That is why his work needs to be understood from an awakened being, from an enlightened master who has tasted the same Truth that Kabir had.
