Rasashastra & Bhalshajya Kalpana is one of the most important branch of Ayurveda. It basically deals with the preparation of Ayurvedic medicines using Metallic/Mercurial, Non-metallic & herbomineral drugs. Rasasastra subject covers the entire field of inorganic pharmaceutical preparations like metallics, non-metallic compound of Ayurvedic materia medica. These Rasousodhis are appreciated for their smaller dosages, quicker effectiveness, long durability etc. Thus, the Rosousadhi preparations plays an important and major role in curing the Alling human beings. Bhaishalya Kalpana mainly covers the entire field of Herbal & organic pharmaceutical preparations like Sworasa, Kashaya, Churna, Guti-Vati, Asava-Arishta, Avaleha, Ghrutam-Tailam etc. Sometime to compete with need of all time availability, easy dispensing, palatability etc and for such enumerable reasons a lots and lots of Kalpanas are developed.

The present book is basically intended for the Under Graduate students of Ayurveda studying in 2nd Professional BAMS. Arrangement of chapter in this text book of Rasashastra & Bhaishalya Kalpana according to Course Curriculum for Second Professional BAMS (Prescribed By NCISM). Dr. Vinay Kumar Kadibagil has completed graduation from Ayurveda Mahavidhyalaya, Hubli in 2001. He has completed post-graduation and PhD in Raseshastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana from BIDE'S AVS Ayurveda Mahavidhyalaya, Vijayapur, Certificate in yoga science (CYS) from Karnataka University Dharwad, Karnataka.

He is recognized PG and PhD guide at Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Sciences, Karnataka and presently working as professor of Department of Rasashastra & Bhaishajya Kalpana, SDM College Of Ayurveda & Hospital, Hassan. He has 19 years of UG and PG teaching experience. He has presented many papers and served as resource person in National and international seminars. He has published more than 100 articles in International journal. He has completed 3 research projects and 3 research projects in hand. He is reviewer and editorial member for reputed journals.

Prof. Bargale Sushant Sukumar completed Graduation and Post- Graduation in Swastharritta and Ph.D. in Ayurveda (Swasthavritta) from Rajiv Gandhi University of Health Science, Bangalore, Karnataka, He completed M. Sc. [Yoga] from Periyar University (PRIDE), Salem Tamil Nadu and M.Sc. (Psychology) from Madural Kamaraj University, Tamil Nadu. Currently working in Department of Swasthavritta and Yoga at Sri. Dharmasthala Manjunatheshwara College of Ayurveda and Hospital Hassan, Karnataka. He published more than 70 articles in National and International Peer Reviewed journals and presented more than 35 quest lectures, papers in various colleges, International and National conferences. He is acclaimed teacher for Graduate, Post Graduate and Ph. D scholars.

We are happy to present the standard text book on Rasa Shastra and Bhaishajya Kalpana, which will be useful for the students of second professional B.A.M.S. according to new syllabus of NCISM, New Delhi and post graduate students of Rasa Shastra and Bhaishajya Kalpanaas well as to enthusiastic readers of Ayurveda.

The beauty of Rasashastra itself is in the utility of various metals and minerals in a therapeutic form. These are also used in very small doses. Metals and minerals require to be detoxified, processed using various techniques which enhances the characteristics and therapeutic effect. This includes utility of various apparatus, different kinds of furnaces, heating devices etc.
