About the Book This book "Ram's Text book of Prasuti Tantra (Obstetrics)" is meant mainly for the under graduate / Post graduate students of Ayurveda stream, but a few chapters may be also useful to students of other streams like Unani and Homeopathy and modern medical science. The book is divided in total twelve chapters.

First three chapters cover the - Introduction of Stree Roga and Prasuti Tantra, Female Anatomy and Physiology.

Chapters 4 to 7 related to pregnancy included GarbhaVignyana, GarbhiniVignyana, Garbhavyapada and GarbhiniVyapada,

Chapter 8 and 9 described the Labor (Prasava) and labor related problems (Prasavavyapada).

Chapter 10 and 11 are related to Puerperium (Sutika) and Lactation (Dhatri and Stanya).

Chapters 12 Obstetric emergency and critical care is also included for completion of this book by which the book may be helpful to student of modern medicine, Homeopathy and Unani medicine also.

The technique of procedures is described as stepwise and presentation of different pathogenesis in a chart and comparative presentation with modern medical science with Ayurvedic concepts is a specialty of this book.

About the Author Dr. Ram Veer Sharma, B.A.M. S. M.D. (Ayu- P.T. & S.R.) Born in a Brahmin farmer Pt. Ram Naresh Sharma family in 1960 at Uganpura, Bah, Agra (U.P.).

The Author got a brilliant education career as Primary and Secondary education from Bah, I. Sc. From Damodar Inter College Holipura Agra. B.A.M. S. from Bala Hanuman Ayurvedic Medical College LodraMehasana (N.G.) in 1983 and M.D. Ayu. (P.T. & S.R.) From I.P.G.T. & R. Jam Nagar in 1988.

The Author proud to being a student of great teachers Vd. C. P. Shukla, Vd. V.J.Thakar, Vd. Madhu Sudan Shastri, Vd. Hari Shankar Sharma, Vd. Shiv Kumar Mishra, Dr. Kulwanta Singh, Vd. Kuldeep Singh, Dr. C.H.S. Shastri. Dr. P.P.Sharam and Dr. M.S. Baxi etc.

The Author presently working as Professor and Head of department of "Prasuti Tantra and Stree Roga" in MMM Govt. Ayurveda College Udaipur, with 20 years teaching, 10 years as a medical officer experience. The Author has published more than 50 articles on different subjects, and participated in many seminars as Chair - Co-chair person, coordinator and presented many papers in national and international seminars. The Author prepared more than 200 PPT on different topics especially in P.T. & S.R. subjects and also delivered many lectures in different CME programs time to time, Radio talk on health on All India Radio Lake City Udaipur (Raj.). The Author is awarded by state level Lord Dhanwantari award 2017 on the base of scientific writing on Ayurvedic subjects.

Preface I feel from my student life till now, there is not a single complete text book of "Stree Roga and Prasuti Tantra" that has been published according to curriculum of C.C.I.M. For a long time, I had desire to write a book for fulfillment that vacuum, which has included all the points completely as par CCIM curriculum.

After the continuous hard pressed desire of my beloved student, incorporating my 30 years of clinical and academic experiences, gained as a Clinician and Academician in different Ayurveda hospitals and colleges, ultimately I have written a compact, comprehensive and practical oriented text book of Stree Roga and Prasuti Tantra.

This book "Text book of Prasuti Tantra" is meant mainly for the under graduate / Post graduate students of Ayurveda stream, but a few Chapters may be also useful to M.B.B.S. students. I have tried to explain difficult subject of Ayurveda in as simple and scientific way as possible. In this book all Ayurvedic principles have been explained according to modem medical science and diseases are symptomatically correlated with Modern diseases.

On the basis of my experience as a teacher and examiner dealing in various examinations by different universities, the standard knowledge of the Stree Roga and Prasuti Tantra is presented with my Views without hesitation. To easy understanding the basic matter by students, the knowledge of subject is presented with Ayurvedic as well as Modem medical science by literatures, Photographs, Tables and Graphs.

First of all, I acknowledge with great reverence to Lord Krishna, Lord Langlade Babaji, Late Guruji Shree Shree 108 Pushkaranandji, my Parents and Teachers because of their great wishes, I get able to be a writer of this book. I have much pleasure in expressing my cordial appreciation to my colleagues Dr. Raj Kumar Sharma (AMO, Govt. of Raj) for difficult Samskrit typing, Dr. Pramod Kumar Sharma, Dr.Kamal Chander Sharma and Dr. Shri Ram Sharma for their valuable suggestions to clear the Ayurvedic concepts.

I could not have conceived this book, without encouragement by my students and my son Co - writer Dr. Anuj Priyadarshi Sharma, who has played a great role to complete modern medical chapter. I am also immensely grateful to my great Patients through them I get experienced in subjects. I have also grateful to those writers and publishers whom books and publications are helped me to complete this book.

On presenting of my book "Ram's Text book of Prasuti Tantra" I must say that, this is not necessary to follow of my views by readers, but I shall be happy if my views bring forth a chain of thoughts, discussions and arguments amongst book readers and students. Being a writer, this is my first try to write a book, naturally there may be possibilities of many mistakes of sentences and spellings. I think my beloved students and brilliant readers will help to develop the quality of the book by their valuable guidance's and suggestions. With excuse, the book is present in worship of Ayurveda and Ayurvedicians.
