About the Book

Pillailokacarya of Twelth Century (A.D) has contributed a lot to the literature of Vaisnavism of Vaisnavism. He has composed eighteen mystic work collecting called ‘Asthadasa Rahasyas’. One of this collection is ‘Mumussuppadi’. It consists of three Mystic hymns called Astaksari, Dvaya and Caramasloka, respectively. It text is written in Tamil originally, in the from of Sutras, consisting of (115+72+102) 289 sutras in three chapters.

Srisailaviraraghavacarya (18th Century A.D) son Srisailaramanujacarya belongs to Tamilnadu has commented upon Mumuksuppadi of Pillai Lokacarya, upto the first chapters itself, in Sanskrit, by the Tatparyadipika. The commentator is famous with the title of Balasaravati’ for his scholarship in vainsnavism. This text and commentary both, have cleaned several doubts in the theory of Srivaisnava. This will be more useful for the scholars and lover of the philosophy of Srivaisnavism.

Pancaratra Agama conceives the idea of Mulaveda or Ekayana Veda. Just as Vedas are Called Trayi since those are Rgveda, Yajurveda and Samaveda, likewise Ekayana comprises Agamic Samhitatrayi, Satvata, Pauskara and Jayakhya. Out of four Svayamvyakta Ksetras, excepting Venkatadri, in other three adobes of Visnu (Anyesu Trisu devadevasya dhamasu), Satvata, Pauskara and jayakhya Samhitas are respectively Sovereign and Satvata rules sovereign in Yadusaila or Narayanadri i.e. Melkote. Satvatam Yadusailendre Samrajyam Adhistati Lord Narayana is the presiding deity and eight syllabled Mantra presides over the worship mode. The Nama mantra is equivalent to Srutimantra as per Pancaratra Agamic connotation.

 

About the Author

Prof. Tatta Vijaya Raghavacharyulu, (Vidyapraveena), (M.A., Ph.D) has studies Sahitya, Darsana and Agama sastras under reputed scholars in a traditional way. He was awarded Vidyavaridhi (Ph.D.) degree for his doctoral dissertation on “A Critical Study of Vedarthasangraha” under the guidance of mahamahopadhyaya N.S.R Ramanuja Tatacharya in 1987. He started his career as a lecturer in Rashtriya Sanskrit Sansthan , New Delhi in July 1987, and later joined the R.S. Vidyapeetha, Tirupati in 1991. He was elevated to the post of Reader in 1997, and as a Professor in Agama dept. from 2005 onwards. He was chairman of Board of Studies in Visistavaita Vedanta, Agamas during the past ten years. He has successfully guided 10 Ph.D. students and has published extensively on various subjects of Sanskrit literature. He is actively engaged in various Religious programmes related to the TTD (Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams) and is regularly invited to deliver religious discourses. He has so far published ten books and more then fifty Researche Papers in reputed journals of Indology, and has attended nearly fifty national and international conferences and presented papers. He has participated several times the Ubhaya Vedanta Seminars and was honoured by Tridandi Chinna Srimannarayana Jeeyar Swamiji, Vijayawada and by Sri Rangaramanuja Jeeyar Swamiji of Kakinada.

Presently Prof. T.V. Raghavacharyulu is the Head, Dept. of Agama Studies, Rashtriya Sanskrit Vidyapeetha, Tirupati.
