To commemorate the 150th Birth Anniversary of Swami Vivekananda the Asiatic Society has decided to organise Lectures, Seminars, Publications related to Swamiji throughout the year. On the eve of his birthday, two lectures were arranged in the Society on January 11, 2012. On January, 2012 a volume entitled Swami Vivekananda-A Tribute was published which contains reprints of three publications by the Society.
The present volume entitled Swami Vivekananda - A Pictorial Tribute is a collection of photographs which depict different phases of Swamiji's life and work covering a period of 1886 to 1901.
I shall be happy if the discerning readers and scholars appreciate our efforts.
English education surely widened our horizon and taught us modern science and technology, but to a limited English educated class, the first impact of English education was one of admiration and acceptance of almost everything western.
