The present festschrift christened as Swasti Sri is the outcome of an abiding desire on the part of Dr. Ch.Chhabra's friends admires to give a meaning full shape to their unbounded appreciation of the man and the scholar in Dr. Chhabra. The World Svasti Sri which is also the title of the volume is a well-known term from the field of Epigraphy denoting practically every aspect of Indian culture and its all-round auspiciousness. Besides the term Svasti Sri being favourite of Dr. Chhabra himself it is also a humble. token of the editors' desired that it should truly reflect all the goodness and benevolence which Dr. Chhabra has showered upon fellow human beings who had come in contact with him in his official as well as Social life.
Dr. Chhabra's deep and erudite scholarship and the readiness which he has always helped friends and students in their academic pursuits have earned for him International repute while his goodness and generosity are remembered vividly by his beneficiaries even years after they had lost personal contacts with him. The editors fondly hope that their twin desire of honoring the greatman that Dr. Chhabra is and of enriching the field of academic Studies with a volume of learned articles contributed by scholars of erudition both from India and abroad is fairly well met by the publication of Svasti Sri.
