One of the seven sisters of North East Mizoram is covered with ranges of hills with an average height of about 3000 to 7000ft. The forest covered hillsides present a picturesque scene with a number of rivers flowing. Mizoram has an agreeable and pleasant climate. The most colourful and distinctive dance of the Mizos called Cheraw often called the Bamboo Dance involves the use of long bamboo staves and six girls moving between the shifting staves.
About the Series
We have started a series called States of our Union, under which it is proposed to bring out books on the States and Union Territories of the Country.
The aim of the series is to promote greater awareness and understanding of the different regions of our great and diversified nation. The books will try to provide a factual account of the life, culture and economic progress of the States and Union Territories, as also their contribution to the development of India as a whole.
