The first one is an invocation to Lord Vinayaka and the second is the Dhyana Kriti on Sri Kamalambika, the goddess to whom the Navavarna Kritis are dedicated. The third which comes at the end is the mangala kriti.
These kritis are replete with subtle and intricate details relating to Thanthra and Yanthra sastras of which Dikshitar is a master. They are so profound that it is impossible to present them in any detail in a book of this dimension. Only passing references are possible.
At my request my close friend Sri. D. Krishnaswamy Iyengar undertook the task of presenting commentaries for the songs subject to the limitations referred to by me. Mr. Krishnaswamy is not new to this job. He has already helped me with brief comments on the songs of Saint Thyagaraja contained in my earlier publication Ganamrutha Krithi Sagaram which has been very well received. In fact I am under pressure to publish the same in English. It is a monumental work and I hope my friend will help me in this venture also. I am thankful to him for his services and willing co-operation.
