The present work is to raise conviction in Christian religious circles that the Church (once again) need to embrace the work of Christ who brings surprising and powerful renewal in Post- Christendom times in His own right through Scripture - that proclaims Christ; Spirit - that transforms us to the likeness of Christ; and Submission (of the Church) - to the call of Christ. The author also asserts that Culture, Church and Christ are what is at stake when dealing with post-Christendom.
Mario Weyers started pastoral ministry in South Africa where he pastored several churches in the Dutch Reformed Church. Having a keen interest in Missiology and Post-Christendom, he developed partnerships with evangelical churches in Post-Christendom Belgium which had a profound influence on his theology and missiology. He has already authored two books. Presently, he is a minister in the Afrikaans Christian Church in New Zealand.
This book is my third contribution to ministry in Post Christendom society. My first publication, titled: Belonging to the Church before believing in Christ (Mediacom Education in Australia) was a response to the dilemma facing the Church in meeting the need of postmodern individuals to belong within the church, but not necessarily to practice believe. This is the ongoing issue of membership in the Church, in postmodern society, in a culture where consumerism and personal needs are prioritised above service and belief.
My second publication: Your Church is God's New Creation (Christian World Imprints-New Delhi) was to assist mainline historical congregations to reposition themselves for a positive future perspective on ministry in spite of a major Post Christendom paradigm.
The former publication dealt with the life of the Church on the inside of its meetings and ministry. Especially on how to relate to strangers and seekers wanting to join the Church with a non- Christian understanding or worldview. The latter was promoting a process to assist congregations in connecting with their specific community outside of its operational walls and to find new ways of expressing ministry in secular society.
