Book Description
About The Book

The History of the life and culture of ancient Indians begins with the life and culture of the Vedic people as reflceted from the Vedic sources. Vedic Culture, thus, forms the foundation of Indian culture and Vedic tenets, hence, have been the primary source of any knowledge of ancient India in its all-round holistic development. For a fairer understanding of ancient Indian people and culture, one has to go through the Vedic sources from the Rgvedic to the Upaniṣadic texts together as they reflect the stages of the formation of Indian culture from the initial stage of its existence to a systematic form through a process of shaping and reshaping of the same. An objective analysis of the Vedic texts beyond all their religiosity is, therefore, the first step in the historical study of the Vedic culture and its impact on the later-day culture of ancient Indians. The present monograph makes an attempt to bring into light some interesting points related with various aspects of Vedic life and culture with a view to developing an understanding of the later-day's Indian culture which is more or less an extension of the former with some additions or reductions is the original structure in the historical course of time.

The present work is a collection of the revised versions of my papers written during a large span of about twenty years of time and some of which are published in some journals also but these have been brought under one title here only on account of a thematic unity therein.
