Siva is one of the most popular Hindu God and his worship is prevalent in many parts of the world. In Sumerian Valley excavation, some images were found which resemble the Sivalinga, images resembling Sivalinga have also been found in Peru. Siva literally means or auspicious, benign. Siva is known for showering blessings on his devotees. This book is an effort to talk about the various forms of iconography of Siva like symbolic (Trident), the riomorphic (Bull & Linga) and anthropomorphic (human form).Author also talks about Siva with his consort Parvati (Shakti) and Karttikeya on the ancient Indian coins. It is not possible to understand Siva without knowledge of his attributes like Nandipad, Taurine symbol, Mountain with Crescent, Damaru, Snake etc. Siva undoubtedly enjoyed the most favoured position among all the deities. The rich iconography of Siva and related symbol on coins show his supreme position.

Dr. Meenu Nain is presently Associate Professor and Head of History Department in Govt. P.G. College for Women Rohtak, Haryana. She has more than 22 years experience of teaching and research. Three Ph.D. scholars have registered themselves under her supervision. She has published more than eight research articles in National and International Journals and presented more than 20 research papers in National and international conferences and seminars.
