This book is a Word-Index of the Sisupalavadha of Magha. The work, based on stylo-linguistic principles, contains the full-fledged study of all the words used in the Kavya, arranged in alphabetical order. Various commentaries are quoted thereon under each word. For supporting the meaning of the words intended by the poet, the reference to different lexicons and dictionaries are also cited under each word. The study of both pada and sabda are dealt with separately.
Above all the principles as well as characteristics of a comprehensive dictionary are strictly adhered to in this work.
Dr. Braja Sundar Mishra (b. 1968) is graduated from Ravenshaw College, Cuttack in 1986. He is Post-graduated from Utkal University securing first position in 1988 with M. Phil. in 1990 and Ph.D. in 1992 from the same University.
Now he is adorning the position of Head in the P.G. Department of Sanskrit, Utkal University and prior to that he was also the Head of Sanskrit Department in Ravenshaw University, Cuttack. Nationally acclaimed as a Poet and adorned with the UGC Research Award, Dr. Mishra is credited with the honour of Vikrama Kalidasa Puraskara in 2015. Till today he has published 18 books and 30 research papers.

The Sisupalavadha of Magha, which is regarded as the best illustration of ornate poetry in Sanskrit Literature, is a living embodiment of incomparable poetic skill and talent. It has become the perennial source for churning the ocean of talent of learned scholars and critics for thousands of years. For that the scholars and critics of all times are attracted to work on this poetic composition.
Each and every word used in The Sisupalavadha is having a deeper and newer meaning for which it is told that after the completion of nine cantos of this there remains no new word in Sanskrit Literature. But not a single dictionary, complete in every respect, is available on this kavya till to-day. The works done on this kavya so far are partial and incomplete. So keeping the necessity of the scholarly-world in view, the present work is prepared as a complete and comprehensive dictionary on The Sisupalavadha. All the words used in the Sisupalavadha have been arranged alphabetically and exhaustive notes on the meaning as well as grammatical explanation of those words are dealt with in this dictionary.

Since the work is a dictionary, all the principles as well as characteristics of a comprehensive dictionary are strictly adhered to in this work. The method adopted for the study is systematic, scientific, critical and analytical. As the work is based on stylo-linguistic principles, the discussion on the words are made both from lexical and grammatical point of view.
The present work is an humble attempt to lay before the scholarly-world a critical review and estimation of all the words used in The Sisupalavadha. The primary aim and objective of this work is to provide a little help to the learned world by making a word index compete in every respect, which would widen the scope of research on The Sisupalavadha.
