The papers collected in the present volume are representative of the wide range of scholarship of one of the most perceptive researchers of recent times. The collection includes interesting articles like "Dhvani Theory: A Post-structural Perspective', 'Music and Musical Instruments in Natya Sastra', and 'Democratic Elements in the polity of Ancient India', in addition to several papers related to Sanskrit Poetics and Linguistics.
Dr. C.Rajendran, currently working as Professor and Head of the Department of Sanskrit, University of Calicut, is a scholar of international repute. His doctoral thesis on Mahimabhatta's Vyaktiviveka was widely acclaimed as a significant contribution to studies in poetics. Author of a dozen books and more than a hundred research papers, Dr. Rajendran has also traveled widely in India and abroad. His work, Pathavum Porulum was selected as the best work in literary criticism by Kerala Sahitya Akademi in 2001
Most of the articles included in this Volume fall under the categories of Literary theory, and Linguistics and the rest are of general nature which have been grouped under 'Miscellany'. Most of these articles were either published in research journals or presented in various National and International seminars. The common thread uniting them is that all of the deal with various aspects of Indology.
