Book Description
FOREWORD

The earth is natures wonderful gift to mankind.

In this earth, researchers believe, that mankind arose around twenty million years ago.

Although animals, birds, worms, insects etc., also dwell on this earth, it is _ mankind that lives with unique characteristics. At the same time we are aware of the fact that all living things have a reciprocal relationship with some other living things, and there is a general dependence among creatures, on one another. This is fundamental to our understanding of the phenomenon of life on earth, which is known as ecology.

Because of the cause and effect basis of science, all events in the universe are designated by nature and have scientific foundation.

Early mankind who had lived wildly in the forests and took shelter in caves, naked, experienced certain immutable truths regarding the earthly existence and in course of time, could by the accumulated memory and constancies in the scheme of things, take the first faltering steps to a scientific appreciation of the world around him, and began to lead a settled life that brought him to the threshold of civilization. It prompted primitive man to adopt practices that would enable him to cope with nature and fashion it according to his own needs. Since this endeavour was restricted to the human race, scientific advance was assured and in course of time covered the known world and embraced all man- kind so that time and space became manageable.

With the aid of science we can now seek the advantages available from the natural world, and also avoid the dangers inherent to the physical situation. But the same scientific intuition that gave fillip to exploiting nature also worked with a depravity condemnable in any creature, by developing weapons of mass destruction, like the atomic bomb and other nuclear contrivances, all of which collectively have destroyed peace and contentment that should have been our lot..

The make and break tendencies now working furiously in the globally dispersed human communities, owes its existence to the accumulated matrix of knowledge, which should also supplement, nature. The scientific development that has grown luxuriantly and left us as surprised as ever, was seeded long, long ago on earth.

Thus of the sixty four basic arts, vaasthu leads the rest. The reason is that it pertains to our residence and all other structures that have a bearing on liv- ing. If these buildings conform to the rules, as laid out in vaasthu sasthras, then the purpose of the structures and those who are intended beneficiaries will prosper, have good health and happiness. This art etymologically denotes truth, vaasthu, which is the foundation for optimum living.

Vaasthu reforms life and is intimately interlinked, with living and is there- fore the foremost of the artsi as depicted by our revered elders. Vaasthu began when the world was formed and the Lord of all constructions, Sri Visvakarma, found it necessary to have, a suitable sasthra as a guide to mankind. Thus the task of dating the art is impossible. But the fact that Vaasthu is mentioned in most of the ancient puranas and idhihas, gives it a hallowed, age long respectability.

Mayan, the son of Sri Visvakarma, the Lord of all constructions, has been extolled in the Mahabaratha, and the art of vaasthu has been approvingly mentioned. Vaasthu transcends differences of race, religion and language and is rooted in humanity and has the potential to invoke universal unity. By dint of study and pragmatic practice, I have compiled the truth that I have come to know and experience, so that the readers may share in the marvellous benefits that the science of vaasthu confers on its votaries. The aim of publishing this book with the title of Sri Visvakarma pragmatic vaasthu, is to enable the public to benefit from this age old art.

The directions given in this book, is devoid of the length and breadth ‘measurements of the ancient Manaiadisasthram. This book has been prepared on the principles of vaasthu, and its characteristics, so that the people may have a clear understanding of the subject and use it with the help of the diagrams and appreciate the positive and negative aspects denoted by the science of vaasthu. A child born of unruly and indisciplined parents when brought up by well mannered elegant foster parents, in their own disciplined manner will grow up as a well mannered elegant person. Reciprocally, if the child born in a well disciplined home is brought up in a rude and rowdy environment, that child will grow up as an indisciplined person. The Child is definitely influenced by its surroundings and the attitude of the peer group, in acquiring its own behavioural morse. Similarly even if the plot is endowed with the right vaasthu qualities, ifthe building is not constructed according to the traditions of vaasthu, it will definitely give evil consequences. But if the plot is not on the patterns of vaasthu, but the building is erected on approved vaasthu models the inmates will all live without any problems.

When the body (anatomy) is formed proportionate to the height of a person, with face, hand, leg, fingers, internal organs, well placed, then the person will be considered to be handsome. When the anatomy is dispropor- tionate, the beauty of the body is marred and the person is considered quite ordinary and if there is arevulsion in the appearance such person is considered ugly. On this analogy, the residential quarters, being the shelter for man when formed on the approved design of vaasthu, it is considered marvellous and will therefore bring only good to the householder.

The long standing desire that even the person at the bottom rung of the economic ladder, should be benefited from the benign effects of vaasthu saasthram, has now found expression in this book, which I commend to all readers, with good will and sincerity.
