Sai Baba, one of the foremost saints of modern times, lived in Shirdi, in the state of Maharashtra, India, for 60 years, till his Mahasamadhi in 1918.
Many books have been written about His stay in Shirdi, His Divine and Spiritual powers, His interactions with devotees and His concern for the sorrows and sufferings of humanity.
The most authentic book is Shri Sai Satcharita, written by Govind Raghunath Dabolkar alias Hemandpant, in which Sai Baba's leelas have been narrated. But the true and real manifestation about the incarnation was somewhere missing.
Lord Krishna blessed the world with Shrimad Bhagwad Gita, after fully satisfying his favourite devotee Arjuna's queries about life, relations, human psychology, spirituality and religious values.
Similarly, Sai Baba gave valuable teachings to Nana Chandorkar and other devotees. These were penned down by Ganapat Rao Dattatreya Sahasrabudhe, popularly known as Dasganu Maharaj, in his spiritual books such as Shri Bhakti Lilamrita, Shri Sant Kathamrita and Shri Bhakti Saaramrita.
In these three literary works, Dasganu Maharaj incorporated seven chapters depicting Sai Baba's divine leelas and spiritual teachings. But unfortunately, Dasganu Maharaj's endeavours remained unnoticed and devotees were deprived of the nectar of Sai Baba's sacred spiritual message.
hri Sai is like a cloud of infinite mercy. The rain of His kind Omercy showers divine knowledge which can wipe out the dust of ignorance and darkness, created by powerful illusions of this manifested world.
Shri Sai Gyaneshwari is the fruit of His extreme mercy and kindness. It consists of truth, wisdom and knowledge. This knowledge is like an entire ocean placed in a small pot. It is very precise, has a universal approach and has the divine ability to transform even the non-devotees to the path of spirituality. Shri Sai appeared in 19th century in Shirdi and blessed the world for 60 years in His mortal coil and continues to do so thereafter. The whole world has felt the divinity of His presence. He insisted on simplicity and purity, rather than rigid religious practices. He is still as active as before and millions have experienced His divine presence and powers.
Many believers and devotees came to Him from distant places and He would bless them with a few words of knowledge and instructions. With His divine grace, all those who came to Him were more than satisfied. He used to fulfil their worldly and spiritual desires. He blessed many with children and many got cured of their deadly diseases. Those who had desire for pure devotion and knowledge, Shri Sai blessed them with incredible divine knowledge.
Some conversations between Sai Maharaj and the devotees were observed and written by the ardent singer-devotee Dasganu Maharaj, in typical Marathi language in poetic hymns, which was the local Marathi tradition. This treasure of Sai literature is full of spiritual and divine knowledge. The brief conversations reveal the most gracious knowledge, which was written in seven chapters of three books - Shri Bhakti Lilamrita, Shri Sant Kathamrita and Shri Bhakti Saaramrita.
