Dr. Kanwal Nayan Kapoor retired as Professor of Hindi from Mukand Lal National College after serving the institution for 38 years. He earned very high reputation as a distinguished teacher, a renowned scholar of Hindi Literature, a prolific creative writer and an insightful literary critic. He has written more than 35 books which include novels, collection of poems, short stories and plays. After his retirement he focused his attention to his first love, the inner journey for the search of the eternal truth of life both through writing insightful books on spirituality and through practicing meditation. He is honoured with a number of national awards including President's award, Haryana Sahitya Academy award and Soordas Samman.

The miniature form of the universe is this physical body only. Mysterious is this fortress that like a vessel, holds the eternal power, the supreme energy.

The mistress of the fort of this body, which is the movement, the life itself, is Durga.

The three-eyed- omniscient one, many armed-omnipresent, armed with weapons-destroyer of obstacles, mounted on the lion that signifies truth, form of genesis, protector, destroyer during the final annihilation of the world, celestial and lustrous, omnipotent, all-capable, she only pervades the gods and the demons too.

The great sage Markandeya, son of the sage Mrikandu of the Bhrigu family, and his composition Shri Durga Shaptashati are considered one of the timeless authors and compositions in the stream of Hindu philosophy. Shri Durga Saptashati is an equally important part of Markandeya Purana as Shrimad Bhagawad Gita is of Mahabharata Purana. Both these Puranas were composed nearly simultaneously. In both the works, the Hindu spirituality and philosophy appeared in its highest glory and creativity. These sublime compositions are certainly multi-faceted and this is the reason that there was and will always be the possibility of difference in the understanding of the interpretations of these compositions.
