Tatparyachandrika of Sri Vyasatirtha has been published recently by the DaVita Vedanta Studies and Research Foundation in three volumes. In this large work Sri Vyastirtatha give the main points of purvapapakas and Siddhartha in one or two verses which give a clear picture of the theme of each adhikarana. Prof. Pandering has compiled these verses and translated them with English. These are giving as appendix in the third volume of Tatparyachandriks under the title slokatatparyachandrika. This appendix is now being released as a separate book for the benefit of those who are not able to consult the original Sanskrit Volumes but would like to have an idea of the main points presented in Tuatara chandrika. It is hoped that this will enkindle the interest in this great work and pave its pave its way for the full study.

Long back in 1965-66 I delivered a series of lecture on Taxpayer Chandrika under the auspices of Ramakrishna DaVita Vedanta Pataskala, Bangalore. While preparing for these lectures, I noticed that Sri Vyasatirtha Summaries the purvapaksa and Siddhartha of each adhikarana in one two verses giving a clear picture of the same. I used to quote these verse in my lectures whenever, I spoke on Tatparya Chandrika. Sri Vidyapaynidhi Tithe Swami asked me to write short articles on these in Tatvachandrika magazine published by Vyassraja Martha. I wrote the same between 1985-90 dealing with one adhikarana in each issue. I wrote both in Kannada and English for first five adhikaranas. Later I continued in English only. After completing the whole series I thought of publishing the same in a book from. However, I could not do it unit I took the responsibility of editing the entire Tatparta Chandrika planned by Dvaita Vedanta Foundation. In the course of editing Tatparyachandrika I had to write a detailed introduction in English giving the summary of the contents of all adhikarans. In this summery I quoted these verses with English translation again. Finally, I thought of giving all these verses in a continuous way so that a total picture of Tatparyachandrika emerged. Accordingly I added an appendix to the third volume and gave these verses under the title Slokatatparya Chandrika. These verses clearly state purvapaksa and Siddhartha. In some cases, Purvapaksa only is summarized. In other cases, Siddhartha only is summarized. In a few cases both are summarized. It deepens upon the requirement of the clarity in each case. In majority of adhikarans the aviate interpretation is reviewed. The purvapaksa and Sid hanta formulated in aviate interpretation is clearly stated and reviewed. These reviews are also summarized in these verses.

All these verses are complied under the title Slokatatparya Chandrika. These are arranged adhikarana wise. Each verse is translated in English with a preliminary remark introduction the point made in the verse and a brief explanation of the theme of the adhikarana.

Thatparyachandrika is a large work. Thought it is called a commentary, it is a polemical work. It is difficult to sort out the arguments and counter arguments on doctrinal issues and the niceties of the interpretations of Sruti passages by each party. As a result it is difficult to put the total result in a nutshell even for highly learned scholars. Therefore, Sri Vyastirtha himself has put the results of his detailed discussion in these in a nutshell. These verses are compiled here to provide a consolidate picture of the discussion in Tatparya Chandrika.

I take this opportunity to express my gratefulness and prenames to late Sri Vidyapayonidhitirtha Swami of Sri Vyasaraja Matha for encouraging me to prepare this work. Long back between 1935-1940 we lived in the same room at purgation Chalky in my sore studying at Maharaja Sanskrit College Mysore. I was in Nyaya Sastra class while he was in Agama class. Later he developed to be an authority on Agamas. He adorned the Peetha of Sri Vyasaraja Matha. I used to have the honors of participating in all actives organized by him. I derived great happiness whenever I recall these events. I dedicate this small work to his holy memory.
