Shirdi Sai Baba is a household name in India as well as in many parts of the world today. This book offers fascinating glimpses into the lives and miracles of Shiri Sai Baba and other Perfect Masters. It is an experience that is bound to transform one's sense of perspective and bring about perceptible and meaningful spiritual growth.
This book acquaints the reader with the spiritual powers at work beneath the mundaneness of our material existence, and reawakens the dormant consciousness of the divinity that lies beneath every aspect of the universe.
This book is a compilation of extempore speeches, articles and writings of Shri. C.B. Satpathy over a period of time, between 1991-1995.
C.B. Satpathy, a celebrated IPS Officer, is an ardent devotee of Shirdi Sai Baba. He came into contact with Shirdi Sai Baba in 1991 and since then has been instrumental in publishing a range of literature, producing music and building temples that are dedicated to Sai philosophy.
He lives in Delhi, is married and has three children.
My fingers tremble as I muster courage to write this note. Can a speck of dust dream to describe the expanse of the Perfect Masters? Yet, my thoughts go back to the first day of my chance encounter with Shri C.B. Satpathy- Guruji or Baba, as he is fondly called by millions who have come into contact with him. Till that moment in time I was a hardcore professional, spiritual to the extent that one believes in the existence of a Superpower, yet firmly rooted in rationality and rational intelligence (!). In the instant when I connected with Shri Guruji's deep eyes, I was sent reeling into a hitherto unknown terrain-that of total surrender. In that one moment, it was as if had met the source and final destination of my existence-and this ecstasy continues till date! This, then, is Sri C.B. Satpathy for the uninitiated.
For those who know him, the fact that he is divinity embodied does not come as a surprise at all. What inspires and stuns most is the normalcy with which he holds this divinity within him! He is foremost a family man, married with three children, and also a highly placed Government servant. Sai is the thread that weaves through every facet of his existence-be it through the soulful poems he writes, the spiritual heights he takes one to, through his melodious rendering of Sai bhajans, or the pun-filled humour that laces his speech. He is multi-talented, yet so down-to-earth that one who is not introduced to his versatility can hardly imagine it. His humility is amply reflected in the fact that he calls himself a servant of Sai Baba and implores Sai's followers to do the same.
His life is an inspiration, a lesson in sacrifice, healing and faith. Millions he has helped through service-be they lepers on the streets of Delhi, or those with worldly woes across the breadth of this country and beyond its shores. He has inspired countless people to tread along the path of Shri Sai and has been instrumental in building more than 50 temples of Shri Sai till date. Many more are in the pipeline, both nationally and internationally. He is a fatherly figure to those who meet him but once, and they remember him and feel his presence forever. His writing, in powerful English as well as in chaste Hindi, are timeless treasures, which one can hold on to while manoeuvring through the vicissitudes of life. Shri Satpathy has been writing small and big articles on Shirdi Sai since 1994 in different magazines both in Hindi and English. The idea of bringing those articles, his speeches delivered on different occasions rather extempore, in the form of a book was in fact a divine inspiration which I have dared to perform.
This book is a dedication to that moment, which gave many like me the strength and the raison d'etre to live-that moment in which we met our beloved and revered Guruji.
