Excavation carried through at Sawari under the guidance of Professor Dr. Pradeep Meshram is an adventurous one in the whole history of Archaeological excavations. It is evident that the village Sawari is located in the complete vicinity of reserve forest of Tadoba in the District of Chandrapur in Maharashtra State. That forest is the abode of wild animals where in they used to room freely. The killing of men and domestic animals by tiger at Sawari, Chora and around villages surrounding by forest during excavation prevailed terror. The excavation site at Sawari was located in the very thick forest. It was not an easy task to carry through excavation under the terror of tiger within its jurisdiction. Notwithstanding Professor Dr. Pradeep S. Meshram and his team accomplished it.
Professor Dr. Pradeep Meshram is a former Professor and Head of the Department of Ancient Indian History, Culture and Archaeology in R.T.M. Nagpur University, Nagpur. He is the author of several books. His 'Ancient History of Buddhism in Vidarbha', and The Day on which Buddha Died' are two most celebrated books. He is famous for his excavation work carried on under himat different site in Vidarbha. In this context,he is recognized as the renowned archaeological expert in Maharashtra. He carried through several archaeological excavation during his long service in the R.T.M. Nagpur University, Nagpur.
