This is the 12th publication in the Sarahbendra Vaidya Muraigal series containing the tested recipes selected by Raja Serfoji for all kinds of posions, after actual administration to patients in Dhanvantari Mahal. Raja Serfoji had an extraordinary versatality and he was quite at home both in the Eastern and Western arts and sciences. Medicine was his favourite study and he has successfully synthesised the Eastern lore with the scientific methods of the West. The present publication contains recipes for poisons of animal, vegetable and mineral origin. They are versified at the special command of Raja Serfoji. The versifier in this case in one Mr. Velayuda Kavignar, son of Ayyakkannu Pillai of Karukurichi and this work containing 342 recipes was finished by him in May 1828. The recipes have been carefully edited with prose version by the Editor. Dr. S. Venkatarajan. who has already edited our previous publications in this series as well. The introduction which is the result of a careful study of Tamil. Sanskrit and English books on this subject, gives valuable information about the sources of poisons, their effect and their general treatment with easily available drugs. It is hoped that this publication will be found useful as the previous ones.
