The two papers, Religious Thoughts of the Sargam Classics and the Sangam Classics on Kingship and Society were presented in the seminar on the Life - World of the Tamils: Past and Present. The revised papers were published by the Centre for Studies in Civilizations, New Delhi along with other scholarly papers in the Volume VI Part 5, The Life - World of the Tamils; Past and Present in 2008.
With the kind permission of the Centre for Studies in Civilizations, my papers are republished 'Sangam Classics: New Perspectives' as a monography titled.
The earliest collections of the ancient poems of the Tamils are known to the world as Sangam Classics / Sangam Literature. They are the bedrocks of Tamil language, Tamil literature and Tamil culture. From the date of their publications from palm leaf manuscripts, they are annotated para-phrased and well researched.
As an ardent student of ancient Tamil classics, I venture to re-interpret them in the historical and cultural contexts in this monograph. I submit this as a humble token of my gratitude to my teachers who moulded and shaped my academic career.
