Pandurang Sadashiv Sane, popularly known as Sane Guruji, had an intense affection for children, wrote delightful stories to entertain them and also to inculcate in them noble values of life. He was a prolific writer. whose personality was a rare blend of saintly character, ardent patriotism, love for the down trodden and the oppressed, devotion to knowledge and fine poetic sensibilities. Sane Guruji's autobiographic narrative about his boyhood, in which he has drawn an inimitable character-sketch of his mother' is a classic in Marathi literature.
G. P. Pradhan, a disciple and a co-prisoner of Sane Guruji during the freedom struggle, and a wellknown Marathi writer, has protrayed Sane Guruji's noble personality and has thrown light on the significant facets of his writings. He has, while appreciating Sane Guruji's rare qualities as a story-teller, explained his noble vision of Antar Bharati. While showing that Sane Guruji's life and his writings were indivisible, Pradhan has evaluated Sane Guruji's significant contribution to Marathi literature.
