Management of heritage sites has been much talked about subject these days. Heritage sites are also seen as places of tourist interest, thus some States are focusing on "Heritage Tourism". Management of heritage site means it should be kept and maintained in the manner it should attract visitors and they should feel safe and comfortable in visiting them. There are various aspects to this. But, the most important integral aspect is of security and safety of both, the cultural wealth as well as the tourists. Acts and Rules may be framed for the purpose and 'Protection Notice Boards' may be displayed, but a task force is needed to ensure their implementation.
Captain Pran Ranjan Prasad is an MBA. He was commissioned into the Regiment of Artillery.
He is the senior most security officer in ASI. In 1997, he was assigned the additional task of computerizing ASI. He was an active member of the ASI team which has set up the Museum of Punjab Regimental Centre (PRC), Ramgarh.
A number of his articles on various subjects of common interest have been published in many leading dailies and popular magazines. He is actively associated with the Institute of Archaeology. He has represented ASI at a number of National and International seminars in India and abroad.
