Romance of a Naxalite is a story about a naxalite boy and a tribal girl. The novel deals with the stories of these two characters separately and somewhere in the middle of the novel, the two meet. All key players—Government institutions, politicians, press, NGOs who have a major role in the phenomena of naxalism have been dealt in a fair and objective manner. The novel does not make a bookish reading by going into the details in an academic manner. But it exposes the reader to various nuances at a propitious time along the storyline so that the issues can be comprehended in the right perspective. The novel is based on reality. There is no message in this novel and the author has portrayed naxalities from the point of view of a common tribal. The book evokes strong emotions as it deals with ironical situations and the fortitude of a young tribal boy who became a naxalite by choice. It tacitly depicts camaraderie amongst naxalites and gives a sentimental account of romance which was initiated due to proximity and flourished in solitude. The book has been written in a perspicuous language making it a lucid reading even for those who do not have any idea about the concept of naxalism.
