Women's studies has presently been a subject of great interest and importance. Of late the subject has emerged as an independent academic discipline. Dr. (Mrs.) Bina Kumari Sarma is the gold medalist of Berhampur University, securing first class first position in M.A., History. She got her Ph.D. Degree under a U.G.C fellowship in 1981. She also got her D.Litt degree in 1990 working under a U.G.C project. Dr. Sarma has written extensively. To her credit are six books and more than sixty research papers published in journals of repute, in newspapers and magazines. She has participated and presented papers in a number of national & state level Conferences, Seminars & Symposias. She has been honoured by a number of professional, academic & non academic bodies. She has been teaching in the P.G. Department of History, Berhampur University Orissa, since last twenty three years.
