About the Book:
Ramacharitmanasa is the magnum opus of Tulsida. It has the distinction of being the only work in Hindi which is widely as a Scripture.
Translation of Ramacharitmanasa is difficult because its simple verses contain, as it were between their lines, theological expositions of the Rama symbol. The literal equivalent is sometimes unsuited to the theological intent. An attempt has been made in this translation to preserve the original without impairing the theological content. The serialization of dohas in the translation is according to Ramacharitmanasa published by Gita Press. Some parts of the original text not connected with the deeds of Rama have been abridged. Such dohas have not been serialized. It is hoped that this volume will stimulate in some measure devotion to Rama which Tulsi desired to convey.
