Rajanigandha is an English translation of Sahitya Akademi award-winning collection of Telugu poems which deal with a wide range of emotions and real life situations. Using deft language, fresh imageries and nuanced craft, the poet weaves a magical web and creates a universe of credibility and yet fantastic. Spiritual and mystical metaphors, motifs and simulations used spruces up the poems and provide the feeling of great satisfaction to the readers. As such Rajanigandha is considered as an important contribution to the genre of Indian poetry in Telugu.
Papineni Sivasankar (b. 1953) recipient of the prestigious Sahitya Akademi Award (2016), is a well-known Telugu poet, short story writer and critic. He has published five collections of poetry, two short story collections and five books of criticism. His literary critique Sahityam-Moulika Bhavanalu (Literature-Basic Concepts) stand as the most innovative writing in the annals of criticism in Telugu.
Syamala Kallury (b. 1949) taught English Literature in the Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, 1.1.1 Delhi. Her research areas are Indian English Poetry, Fiction and Translation Studies. A bilingual writer and translator, her publications include: Telugu Short Stories, Women’s Voices: An Inner Voyage, Godavari Tales and Twentieth Century Telugu Poetry. She also contributes short stories to reputed journals in Telugu.
