In 2007, I received the first mention of Tansen's Raag Mala in the Hindi catalogue of Vrindavan Research Institute. I requested Secretary and Executive Director Rajkumar Gupta for a copy. He gladly granted permission. He was so pleased with my information that he informed the journalists about it.
On receiving this text of Tansen by Vrindavan Research Institute published in a news that Hindi literary world has got great achievement due to receipt of unpublished book written by Tansen. I finished copying them and started looking for other copies to edit.
In the 1902 search report of the Nagari Pracharini Sabha, I got information about the copy in the State library, Jodhpur. With the support of Mr. Satyanarayana Samadani of Meera Smriti Sansthan, I was also successful in getting a copy of Rag Mala in Jodhpur. I received information about rare paintings of Tansen that they are in Victoria Memorial Kolkata, Cooperation was received of Shri SK Sharma, an officer of the Department of Culture, Government of India, I extend my gratitude to Sharma Ji for his courtesy. If this institute's colleague Mr. Rajat Shukla had not given it from his pen drive, it would not have been used with this book. I consider it my duty to express my affections towards him. Gradually the responsibilities in the institute increased and the work of editing the Raga Mala continued to be postponed. The president of the institute Mr.Bhavani Shankar Shukla brought me to the institute with advice of late Narmadeshvar upadhyay. I gladly informed him of my achievement.
He was pleased. Shri Bhavani Shankar Shukla held a high position in the Culture Department of Uttar Pradesh. Therefore he had a good knowledge of music world and classical music. He constantly encouraged the editing of Raga Mala. While struggling with the important responsibilities of the Vrindavan Research Institute, the work of editing the Ragmala lagged behind. When I was relieved from the post of director, I uploaded and received the literature on Tansen and finally completed the editing of Tansen Kritis Ragamala as a follow-up to the advice of Dr. Mahesh Narayan Sharma, Director of Vrindavan Research Institute and submitted for publication by me to the Institute. In the editing work of Raga Mala, scholar of handwritten texts, Shri Uday Shankar Dubey was consulted from time to time. He has been affectionate to me. Internet contents continued to be found by my colleague Kunj Bihari Sharma in the work of Braj Culture Encyclopedia. Director of Government Museum Lucknow, Dr. Ajay Kumar Pandey has pleased to provide the pictures of Ragmala from Lucknow Museum. My wife has been my inspiration and her Ulahano (Twitching) kept motivating me towards the duty of editing.
