The pattern of multiple choice questions (MCQ) is now a widely used testing device in the screeing test of various courses This facilitates the quicker and objective evaluation of the candidate's knowledge. Though this method is not absolutely fault- free, it can be considered as more reliable and superior to other existing systems of assessment. To my knowledge, the first book of this kind was written by Dr. K. Nishteswar fifteen years ago, which has inspired many authors and publishers to write and publish different question banks. As an addition to that category of books Dr. C.V.S. Uttara Lakshmi has brought this book with an innovative approach.
I have known Dr. C.V.S. Uttara Lakshmi, Medical Officer, Municipal Corporation Vijayawada as a sincere student of Ayurvedic medicine, the topper throughout the career and winner of two university gold medals. She stood first in the subject of Pr as uti tantra in the Post Graduate Entrance Examination held at BHU during 1982. Her meticulous preparation resulted in huge compilation of Multiple Choice Questions which remained unpublished all these years. I am happy that the material is seeing light of day for the benefit of students preparing for PG Entrance tests and other competitive examinations. The material in this book is very comprehensive, the plan very ingenious and surely stimulates the readers to .enrich their knowledge. I have great pleasure in recommending this book to the candidates preparing for the examinations like Ayurvedic Post Graduate Entrance Tests, Public Service Commision Tests and Viva Voce of Degree and Post Graduate Examinations.
The Central Council of Indian Medicine (CCIM) framed uniform syllabus for Ayurvedic Medical education at degree and post graduate levels to be followed all over the country. At present most of the institutes/universities are conducting entrance examination for admission into PG courses. Candidates in larger number are attending PG entrance tests being conducted by the institutes of international repute like Banaras Hindu University, Gujarat Ayurved University, National Institute of Ayurveda etc. Several State Service Commissions have started conducting competitive tests for the posts of Medical Officers and Research Officers. These tests mainly consist of objective type of questions. Keeping this in view an attempt is made in this book to compile several Multiple Choice Questions on different subjects mentioned in the BAMS syllabus which form the subject matter of Service Commission and P.G. Entrance Tests. This hand book is very useful in making quick revision of the subjects within a short time. To derive maximum benefit the candidate is advised to read. The standed text books of the relevant subjects. before answering MCQS. In case of doubts about the answers furnished in the key the reader can consult the authentick books for further clarification.
I thankfully acknowledge my beloved teacher Dr. M. Kutumba Rao, who not only encouraged me to write this book but also conveyed 'his blessings through his 'foreword.
